The Australian rock titans JET brought their unadulterated, high-octane assault to Asbury Park's legendary Stone Pony on Tuesday night (9/22). Delivering a blitzkrieg of crunching riffs and stadium-sized hooks, they proved that with over two decades on the road, their brand of garage-rock swagger is still as mean, loud, and lethal as ever.
Nic Cester was an absolute force up front, spitting razor-sharp vocals with a gritty snarl that cut through the sea of distortion. Backed by Mark Wilson's heavy, pocket-perfect basslines and Chris Cester laying down freight-train beats, the band moved with the telepathic tightness of a unit that lives for the chaos of the stage.
The wall-to-wall packed crowd exploded when rock royalty graced the Stone Pony stage. Bon Jovi’s keyboardist David Bryan joined the band, adding a filthy, blues-drenched keys foundation that took the night's high-voltage energy to an apocalyptic level. The first notes of “Wanted Dead or Alive” was all it took for the crowd to erupt into celebratory chaos.
This tour, “Down the Moonlit Mile Revue”, is certainly aptly named, as the show felt like a tent-raising revival laying down a relentless barrage of pure rock 'n' roll adrenaline. After tearing through explosive staples like "Last Chance," "She's a Genius," and "Look What You've Done," the band unleashed a menacing cover of AC/DC's "It's a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock 'n' Roll)," then slammed into timeless anthems "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" and "Cold Hard Bitch". Jet proved that when it comes to raw, sweat-soaked rock 'n' roll, they are completely unmatched.
