Tuesday night (8/25), Princeton’s own jam-rock titans, Blues Traveler, turned the Levitt Pavilion in Bethlehem into a pulsating, blues-soaked furnace. Nearly four decades into their legendary run, John Popper and company proved they haven't lost a single drop of their relentless, improvisational bite. They delivered an intense high-velocity performance that had the crowd moving non-stop.

John Popper remains an absolute anomaly on stage. Armed with his signature ensemble of harmonicas, he blew through machine-gun solos with impossible speed and breath control, all while spitting out those gritty, soulful lead vocals. Beside him, Chan Kinchla was pure swagger on lead guitar, trading lightning-fast licks with Popper’s harp solos, while Tad Kinchla’s heavy bass lines and Brendan Hill’s freight-train drumming kept the groove locked in all night.

The chemistry of this unit is completely telepathic. They flow seamlessly, morphing into astounding transitions between heavy blues jams, funk grooves, and rock-and-roll solos. The room erupted during explosive renditions of 90s classics like "Run-Around," "Hook," and "But Anyway," but the band really flexed its musical power in the deep-cut jam sessions and the countless individual solos.

This tour has been a culmination of incredible talent that includes sets from the Spin Doctors and the Gin Blossoms. John even invited Chris Barron and Robin Wilson to join the band on stage to sing Champipple and Dirty Work respectively.
