Atlantic City was treated to an incredible night of reggae, soulful rhythms, and unifying vibes on Friday, May 1. Taking the stage as a special guest supporting headliners UB40, Matisyahu proved exactly why he remains such a captivating and continuously evolving live force, effortlessly commanding the room from the moment he stepped into the spotlight.

The genre-bending artist wasted no time setting a deeply rhythmic and engaging tone for the evening. Rather than leaning immediately on his most nostalgic, recognizable hits, Matisyahu confidently opened the set with “Pro-cess,” a fresh and dynamic track off his new album, Ancient Child Live. The new material showcased his ongoing musical and spiritual evolution, blending his signature rapid-fire delivery and beatboxing with an intimate, groove-heavy melody that translated perfectly to the large venue space.

Mid-set, the show took on a more intimate pulse. Rossdale stepped off the stage and into the pit, weaving through the crowd, greeting fans up close and singing alongside them. It was a moment that collapsed the distance between performer and audience, reinforcing the communal spirit that has long defined BUSH’s live shows. Rather than feeling choreographed, the interaction felt spontaneous, fueled by genuine connection.

While playing a slightly condensed setlist, the performance was all killer and no filler. Without getting bogged down in an exhaustive tracklist, the overarching vibe of the performance was electric and immersive. Matisyahu drew heavily from the room's energy, seamlessly fusing reggae, hip-hop, and deep spiritual lyricism, demonstrating his unique ability to bridge generations and musical styles.

For fans who missed out on this coastal performance, the window to catch him live in Philadelphia is closing quickly. Matisyahu’s next regional appearance will be in Philadelphia on May 17th, where he is slated to perform at the Philly Jewish Music Festival.
